Turbulent Environment

The tragedy of Oklahoma City in 1995 raised concerns for glass panes being blown out from window frames during a severe explosion. Compounded with the horrific 9/11 attacks, aggressive testing began. Results were conclusive: with nothing to hold filmed glass to frames, windows had the potential to be blown out from their frames causing devastating results. When questions for better safety measures resonated throughout the country, security film manufacturers answered with the development of "attachment systems".

One effective installation commonly used is the wet glaze attachment system.
This system employs Dow Corning *995 Silicone Structural Adhesive.

The perimeter bars were removed first so that the film could be applied to the very edges of the glass panes. The condition of gaskets and frames are evaluated. If deterioration is found, the appropriate adjustments are made.   The adhesive anchors the security film, glass, and window frame to each other, thereby maximizing the integrity of the film and its effectiveness. For a successful application, the gaskets are trimmed and the film's edges are inserted behind the window frame. A bead of Dow Corning silicone is then applied flush against the frame to overlap the security film and take the place of the original gaskets. High Impact Glass Solutions provides ongoing training and adheres to the guidelines provided by Dow Corning's Techtalk Bulletin to ensure dependable sealant applications that are done with perfection.

After applying impact film to the edges of the glass, three days were allowed for the film to cure. On our second visit we again removed the bars and applied Dow Corning 995 Structural Sealant. Now the filmed glass was bonded to the frame and the entire window system of this door was strong enough to deter and deny forced entry.   Though universally agreed that anchoring is necessary, the procedure can not be executed without a thorough evaluation. Age, type and condition of window systems are variables that contribute to the uniqueness and many arduous challenges of a successful, dependable system. Keenly aware of such challenges, we conduct free inspections prior, during, and after the completion of all installations.

If you are facing a serious medical challenge, you probably wouldn't settle for anyone less than a "specialist". Unquestionably, your home or business deserves the same level of expertise. High Impact Glass Solutions has attained recognition as attachment system specialists. We have been stamped with this reputation by the quality of our installations seen through the eyes of film manufacturers, business peers and more importantly, by our customers.
